Website analysis with Google Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, after obtaining the user’s consent. The relevant data controllers are Google Ireland Limited, Google Building Gordon House, 4 Barrow St, Dublin, D04 E5W5, Ireland, for users in the EU/EEA and Switzerland. Google Analytics 4 uses IP anonymisation by default, which means that your IP address is immediately truncated when you interact with this site. In rare circumstances only, your full IP address will be transferred to a Google server based in the United States and shortened there. Google maintains that the IP address transferred via Google Analytics will never be combined with other Google data. Google Analytics 4 is activated only with your consent via the cookie banner and can be revoked at any time via the cookie settings.

The data processed includes: usage data such as page views, interaction with the website, general location and duration of the visit; and communication data such as truncated IP addresses, user agent, preferred language and screen resolution. The purpose of this data processing is for Google to evaluate your use of the website on behalf of the website operator, compile activity reports and analyse the website’s performance. This data processing is lawful, based on your consent pursuant to Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and § 25(1) TDDDG.

Google Ireland Limited, Google LLC and Alphabet Inc are the recipients of this data. Information regarding your use of the website is generally transmitted to a Google server in the United States; this is legitimised by the European Commission’s recent adequacy decision of 10 July 2023, which recognises Google LLC’s certification under the EU-US Privacy Shield Framework.

In terms of data storage, all data related to cookies is automatically deleted after a certain period of time, which is monthly for data that has reached its retention period, and a maximum of 2 years for Google Analytics cookies.

For further information on the terms of use of Google Analytics and Google’s privacy policy, please visit {link}https://policies.google.com/{link-end} and {link}https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/12017362{link-end}.

Google Analytics uses so-called ‘cookies’, text files that are stored on the website visitor’s computer and enable an analysis of the website visitor’s use of the website. The information generated by the cookie regarding the website visitor’s use of this website (including the truncated IP address) is usually transmitted to a Google server and stored there.

Google Analytics is used on this website exclusively with the ‘_anonymizeIp()’ extension. This extension ensures that the IP address is anonymised by truncation and prevents direct personal identification. The extension truncates the IP address by Google within Member States of the European Union or in other signatory states to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address transmitted to a Google server in the USA and truncated there. The IP address transmitted by the relevant browser within the scope of Google Analytics is not merged with other Google data.

On behalf of the website operator, Google will use the information collected to evaluate the use of the website, to compile reports on website activity and to provide the website operator with further services relating to website and internet usage (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The legitimate interest in data processing lies in optimising this website, analysing website usage and tailoring content. Users’ interests are sufficiently safeguarded through pseudonymisation.

Google LLC is certified under the so-called Privacy Shield (list entry here) and, on this basis, ensures an adequate level of data protection. Data sent and linked to cookies, user identifiers (e.g. user ID) or advertising IDs is automatically deleted after 50 months. Data whose retention period has expired is automatically deleted once a month.

Tracking by Google Analytics can be prevented by the website visitor adjusting the cookie settings for this website. The collection and storage of the IP address and the data generated by cookies can also be objected to at any time with future effect. The relevant browser plugin can be downloaded and installed via the following link: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Website visitors can prevent data collection by Google Analytics by clicking on this link. An “opt-out cookie” will then be set, preventing the visitor from being tracked whilst browsing the site.

Further information on Google’s use of data, as well as options for settings and opting out, can be found in Google’s Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) and in the settings for the display of Google ads (https://adssettings.google.com/authenticated).

Spam protection with Google reCAPTCHA

We have implemented Google reCAPTCHA in the forms on our website to verify whether the data entered in the forms originates from human visitors or from machines or automated programmes, also known as ‘bots’. This tool automatically analyses the behaviour of website visitors as soon as they interact with the website, using various pieces of information such as the IP address, duration of the visit and mouse movements. The data processed includes usage data such as the website visited, the date and time of access, and mouse movements, as well as communication data such as IP addresses, browser type and operating system. This processing applies to website visitors and users of online services. The main purpose of this processing is to prevent misuse of our contact form, thereby improving security. The legal basis for this is our legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The recipients of the data include Google Ireland Ltd, based at Google Building Gordon House, Barrow St, Dublin 4, Ireland, (https://policies.google.com/privacy) and our website hosting provider. Whilst your personal data is processed within the EU, the retention period for the processed data is determined by Google Ireland Limited. Further information can be found in the Google reCAPTCHA privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy

Web analytics (Jimdo Statistics)

When you visit our website, we collect information about your use of the site via a web analytics tool provided by our hosting provider. This tool collects and combines your IP address and user agent, shortens them and stores this data using a hash function. This process creates an encrypted visitor ID using a randomly generated value that is renewed every 24 hours. This method ensures that your IP address cannot be reconstructed from the stored visitor ID, thereby guaranteeing your anonymity. Furthermore, we do not merge this information with any other data, and it will only be stored on the hosting provider’s server.

We also process web analytics data, HTTP data and web analytics profile data. The web analytics tool we use creates and stores a web analytics profile, which contains information about your use of the site, such as the pages viewed, the frequency of visits, the time spent on each page and your device’s user agent. This information includes usage data (such as pages visited and times of access) and communication data (such as browser type, operating system and IP address).

We process this data to analyse user behaviour in aggregate, which enables us to improve the layout and content of our website.

This processing is based on the legal basis of legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR), in particular the measurement of web activity to improve our products and our website.

The data collected is shared with our website host and processed within the European Union.
